The Full Story

About The Shed

The Shed was built from a simple idea: training should be purposeful, honest, and built entirely around the athlete in front of you. What started in my garage as a small, focused space for high-quality strength and conditioning quickly grew into something much more than a gym.

I started as a trainer in 1997, still a teenager ready to graduate high school, and from there I’ve lived every stage of this industry—from early mornings in small weight rooms to high-performance environments, international sport, and everything in between. It’s been a long road of learning, adapting, failing, growing, and building experience that now shapes everything I do today.

After two years of training athletes out of “The Shed” in its original garage form, the opportunity came to expand into the Chiefs’ space. The Chiefs entrusted me not only to take over the space, but to evolve their strength and conditioning program into what it is today. In doing so, we helped establish one of the first structured, year-round strength and conditioning models within a BCHL organization—an approach that has since influenced how many teams now operate, following the success and culture it helped create.

Around the same time, CMHA also came on board with us, and that relationship remains something I deeply value. There is something special about every fall when the athletes and teams return—the energy they bring, the excitement of a new season, and the opportunity to reignite their love for training and the gym environment.

Over the past three seasons with the Chiefs, The Shed has continued to evolve into a performance hub for athletes across all sports, built on consistency, accountability, and a commitment to doing things properly.
